Another successful year at Crufts for the Ghyllbeck kennel

with our judge Val Foss awarding Dixon the DCC & his daughter Ziva BEST PUPPY IN BREED

DCC - DIXON - Sh Ch/Int Sh Ch/Dutch Ch/German Ch Ghyllbeck Rapax

BEST PUPPY IN BREED - ZIVA - Ghyll Beck Uut't Vossebeltseveld (Dutch Imp)

At The National Sh Ch/Int Sh Ch/Dutch Ch/German Ch Ghyllbeck Rapax took his 39th CC under Eileen Hughes
giving him the breed record formely held by his great great grandsire Ch Ghyllbeck Holcus.
He won his title as a yearling under Andrew Brace, Anne Webster & Marion Waddell.
At The National in 2012 he became the first Munsterlander to win a group in the UK at this level.
In 2013 he was Best In Show at the breed club show & took a group 4, while 2014 saw him take
Best of Breed at Crufts & later a group 3. He was top puppy 2010 & top dog 2012, 2013 & 2014.
On the Continent he was the first of the breed to win a group in Netherlands & Germany, the breed's country of origin.

Mrs Eileen Hughes judged our breed with CC's for the first time.....
Her critique reads as follows:-

1 Hargreaves’ Sh Ch/Int/NL/VDH Ch Ghyllbeck Rapax, a beautiful example of the breed, a balanced,
well-muscled & strong energetic dog who flows round the ring with reach, due to well laid shoulders & drive,
from well angulated stifles. Just the right size, I felt that many exhibits today were a little long on the leg with straighter angulations.
He also has an attractive head, with dark eyes & a gentle expression.
His topline & body proportions are as described in the Standard, he richly deserves his tally of CCs. CC & BOB;

Congratulations also to Annette & Luna (Dixon's daughter) on winning the post graduate class &
Julie & Glen (Dexter's son) who won the junior class & passed his KC Good Citizen Bronze.

To everyone at home and overseas who have sent congratulations & kind words....It has been hugely heartwarming...THANK YOU

At SKC Ziva won her first junior class under Andrew Brace then went on to take the RCC

At The world Dog Show in Italy

Storm was declared a

Junior World Winner &

Italian Junior Champion.

This combination of UK & Dutch

bloodlines looks extremely

promising for the future.

At Border Union Dixon & Nina's puppy made his first appearance in the show ring under Helen Salmon who awarded him

Many Congratulations also to Dixon's daughter Brockchime Luna owned by Annette & Christopher Hewitt who took RBCC

At a glorious Blackpool Mr Gibbs's litter sister Holly made her first appearance under John Thirwell winning the puppy bitch class.
She was only pipped at the post to Best Puppy by her brother.

GHYLLBECK FRENCH HOLLY owned in partnership with Peter & Louise Stevens

John Thirwell's critique reads as follows:-

PUPPY DOG - Hargreaves’ Ghyllbeck Monsignor, quality puppy with the best of head, & dark expressive eye,
well placed shoulder in a balanced body with just the right amount of angulation. Super well boned legs & feet.
Presented a good outline & moved soundly for 1 so young. Must have a promising future.

PUPPY BITCH - Stevens & Hargreaves’ Ghyllbeck French Holly, another promising puppy bitch, litter sister to dog,
I awarded both their parents a CC & see that they have inherited many of their qualities

Another successful day at East of England where Holly, Luna, Flint, Gibbs & Nina all won their respective classes.
Luna took RBCC & Gibbs Best Puppy, however, the icing on the cake was Nina who was awarded the BCC, her 20th, by our Judge Mick Howes
whose critique is as follows:-)

OB (6) 1 Hargreaves’ Sh Ch/Int Sh Ch/Dutch Ch/Ger Ch Ghyllbeck Angelique, this beautifully balanced bitch stood out.
She has the most exquisite head with a lovely reach of neck into well laid shoulders, she has the best of fronts with correct bone, feet & pastern.
Well sprung rib with good deep brisket & ribbed well back. She is well angulated fore & aft with correct turn of stifle & good muscletone.
Good level back with slight rise over loin & correct tailset. Movement was positive with driving action, pleased to award CC;

Many Thanks to Connor for taking the lovely photos

Mr Gibbs was awarded another Best Puppy award at Leeds under Chris Atkinson

We decided to leave Gibbs at home whilst we travelled south for a long weekend. At Paignton only Nina was eligible but boy oh boy
she turned out all the stops by gaining her 21st CC & was then presented with Best of Breed under gundog specialist David Moss.
Dixon's progeny did us proud with Flint winning PGD, Lily JB & Holly taking Best Puppy in Breed.

Daniel did an excellent job showing Nina in the gundog group

A lovely atmosphere, super company & fabulous weather all contributed to another successful day - this time at National Gundog.
Holly won another Best Puppy award, Nina took the RBCC whilst His Lordship was awarded DCC under Lesley Trow.

Fulaluv Beyond Belief (Dexter's son) won PGD, Connor wasn't hugely impressed...
He'd rather have been scuba diving!!!

Glen (Dexter's son) with his wonderful display of trophies

At WKC our judge was Frank Kane who awarded Nina with the RBCC & Mr Gibbs Best Puppy. Congratulations to Glen who won the PGD class
& Holly on winning the PB class. Unfortunately the quality of the photos suffered due to the torrential downpour
which meant everyone was crammed into the marquees and space was at a premium.
Special thanks to Jonathon Daltrey who judged Pointers & gave Daniel a couple of tips then awarded him VHC in a very strong limit class.....
To say he was chuffed would be an understatement.....:-)

Daniel & Shimmer
His Nibbs with Mr Gibbs
Nina was awarded the RCC

At SKC we decided to enter Abby (Nina & Dixon's daughter). Our judge was Penny Williams who was extremely patient when going over her.
The Highland Hall isn't the best introduction to a puppys first showing experience however we were delighted with her Best Puppy award.

Dixon being awarded the DCC Abby

At City of Birmingham our judge Ann Moss gave Mr Gibbs Best Puppy in breed & our Dutch Import Ziva was awarded the RCC

We had successful day at Richmond where our judge Irene Glen was awarding us CC's for the first time.

At our penultimate show Darlington Mr Gibbs gained another Best Puppy award under judge Ron James,
whilst our Import Ziva, picked up her third RBCC from only four shows entered this year.

At Dukeries (Notts) Gundog Club Nina was awarded a SGWC under judges Maureen Nixon & Sharon Pinkerton
thus removing her show title to become the first continental title holder to achieve full champion status making her

The whole trial was run on sugarbeet with Nina being one of only 2 dogs of 13 that ran to find birds
a partridge, 3 pheasants & 3 pigeons on her run....not bad for a show dog hey!!!

Wow what an achievement.....Many Congratulations Carol & Abby at their first show...We are all so proud of you:-)

Mr Gibbs ends another successful show season by following in the footsteps of both parents to be declared not only

but also
